Meet the FHE Contributors

Jill Hunt
Family Home Evenin
g Blog Founder

I was raised a Presbyterian and Methodist in the South and joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints a few months after graduating high school in 1996.
I had wonderful friends in high school, some of which were what I considered perfect LDS examples. Their example, along with some questions and beliefs of my own, lead me to want to know more about the church.

I served a mission in Los Angeles, California, alum of Utah State University and have held many church callings over the years, mostly teaching of some sort.

(Favorite callings involved FHE leadership
in my Single Adult Ward during college).

Family Home Evening was new to me after joining the church, but has been apart of my life ever since. I enjoyed an award-winning journalism career before starting a family. Now I get my writing kicks off creating great FHE lessons, blogging, Twittering and running a craft Web site.

My goal is to help provide families, single adult wards, single adults, and groups complete, spiritual and fun lessons on all sorts of gospel and other important topics. I hope this blog serves your FHE needs!

Jenn
"Food Storage Fridays"

HI! My name is Jenn and I hail from beautiful southern Oregon!
My life is insane! My first job is being a wife and mother... I consider myself a good one though there are days that I wish I could throw someone out the window. ;)
Because of my insanely busy life I HAVE to stay organized. Even if everything is in a pile... I know what is in which pile and where in the pile it's located. It's a bit chaotic at times but works well in my crazy life!
I've been married to my amazing husband Neil for 9 years and have always strived to build a solid food storage and have emergency preparedness essentials on hand. But alas, I was constantly overwhelmed and after many an effort I would end up with a case of green beans, a case of chili, a couple gallons of water and a box of matches... not such a solid foundation.
About a year ago I wrote down what I wanted and needed in my food storage and what was required for emergency preparedness and I broke it down. So I could ACTUALLY DO IT! My system has proven to be effective and can work on ANY budget! We started with just $5 a week and now have a little of everything we need! :)
Now I am not a food storage guru and don't claim to have magic powers... but I know what works for me and I hope it inspires you as it did me!
You must know... my life is NOT about food storage! So here's a bit about me... because you are just DYING to know!
I'm the person that you either love or hate. I don't beat around the bush and I'm very opinionated. But, you will always get the real me! I wear many hats in my busy life and while I enjoy every moment wearing each one... I have to NAP!! My husband would tell you that if I could sleep all day I would... and he's right! OI!!
But as a woman I have to get off my tukas and join the world of the living... so here are a few random facts about me!

  • I am a cancer survivor and every year I love celebrating survivorship and hope at our local American Cancer Society Relay for Life... this year I am the co-event chairperson for the 1000 participant event... BIG DEAL!
  • I am totally and completely addicted to Dr. Pepper! And until the Prophet says, "Thou shalt not drink Dr. Pepper" I will continue to be an addict... I know... word of wisdom... my addiction haunts me daily and I love every moment of it!
  • I love to read... I feel incomplete unless I'm in the middle of a book. Is that weird?
  • My husband is the most amazing man I know... he has to be to stay married to me for 9 years now!
  • All 3 of my children have had medical issues and I could be a nurse going through it all... it's also lead to my "need" for organization!
  • I love life and try to soak up every adventure, memory, up, down and all that is in between!
Have a happy, healthy, sane, beautiful day... or at least... don't throw anyone out the window!

Untypically Jia
"FHE for Couples, Singles and those w/o children"

Hi I'm Untypically
Jia! I am a happy housewife married to the love of my life for the past five years. I am the founder of Modern Molly Mormon. I am a freelance writer and have been published on Happy Housewives Club, as well as in Latter-Day Woman magazine. I'm currently in the process of writing two books, not including a fan fiction novel that continues
the saga of my great obsession, Twilight! How do I have time to accomplish all this and still look good? Well, firstly I take vitamins, and second, I don't have kids, so I have to fill up my day with something fulfilling until the mantle of motherhood is placed on my shoulders and I can have a greater calling. Until that time comes, I'm simply a wife, writer, daughter of God, convert
to the Church (9 years running) and mother to my furbabies.

Of course not having children is no excuse to NOT have FHE! So that's why I'm here. To help show other couples, whether they be newlyweds, empty nesters, those who have not yet been blessed with children, or perhaps a few Moms and Dads that need a little couples FHE when the kids are asleep. You can still have a spiritual, fulfilling FHE without little ones.

Dana
"FHE for families with small children"

My name is Dana (as in banana, Montana, bandana, copa cabana… well, I think you get the picture). I am a 32 year old native of Arizona. I received my teaching degree from Arizona State University with an emphasis on bilingual education. I love languages and cultures and people. I was married in the summer of 1999 to a wonderful man who has blessed my life in countless ways. Now, ten years later, we are the parents of 5 great children ages 9 years to 3 months. Since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a mother, but I never realized how extremely challenging it would be. Some days have moments of sweet satisfaction and pure joy while others leave me exhausted and frustrated. Through it all I am continuously reminded that the family is, indeed, ordained of God. I am grateful for the counsel to hold Family Home Evening. It brings us closer as a family and gives us a much needed opportunity to talk of Christ and discuss our Father’s plan for us.

Dana's lessons will help so many families with young children!

Jennifer
"FHE for Today's Society"

I'm a single mother of 2, Conroy who is 4 years and Sabrina, 2. I've recently moved to Utah from Canada. I spent 9 years within the two Providences of Alberta and British Columbia. I was born in La Paz, Bolivia, the home country of my mother and where my father served his mission. I spent the first part of my life in Arizona. I love music, books, crafting and spending time with my family. I'm excited to make new friends in my new town
and ready to get back to work, what that will be, I don't know.
